Ashtanga Yoga is an ancient system of Yoga that was taught by Vamana Rishi in the Yoga Korunta. This text was imparted to Sri T. Krishnamacharya in the early 1900’s by his Guru Rama Mohan Brahmachari, and was later passed down to Pattabhi Jois during the duration of his studies with Krishnamacharya, beginning in 1927.
Shri. Pattabhi Jois spread his knowledge world-wide, his method of teaching was popularly called as “Mysore – style Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga”. This traditional style of teaching was passed down to his grand-son Shri. R. Sharath Jois and was accepted as Paramaguru by all the Practitioners of Mysore-style Ashtanga Yoga around the world. This traditional practice strictly follows the guru-shishya tradition and the students are authorized only after rigorous practice for several years.

Sharath Yoga Center is the only center that can officially authorize instructors for Ashtanga yoga.

A full primary series with continuously with traditional Vinyasa methods with counting in Sanskrit. It is a direct uninterrupted continuous flow guided practice. No Beginners.

KANTHI YOGI SRI. SANDEEP SHIVASHANKAR
Sandeep Shivashankar is a very well know yoga and wellness teacher who is based in Mysuru, the Yoga capital of India. He is one of the very few authorized yoga instructor from the world renowned yoga shala, K. Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute (KPJAYI), Mysuru. Having over 15 years of experience in asana practice, he has mastered the skills in clear explanation, instructor guided classes, proper adjustments and breathing techniques.
Sandeep was born in Mysore, he grew up in a typical orthodox Brahmin family with passion towards artistic field he started his career in theater, dance, fitness at a very young age. Though he spent the next three years focused on his scholastic education, earning a diploma in computer since and engineering from Srimath Polytechnic, Mysore.
Sandeep started practicing yoga with an intention to balance his lifestyle and after about several years of practice with various instructors, he took it as a way of life when he started to practice in 2012 under the guidance of Yoga Paramaguru Sri. R. Sharath Jois of KPJAYI, who is a renowned yoga teacher and underwent rigorous training to obtain authorization to teach traditional Mysore style Ashtanga yoga.
With this foundation he established his own shala – Yoga Purusha Ashtanga yoga shala in Mysuru. His sincere devotion and discipline to the study and practice of yoga compels him to rise six days a week at 3:00 a.m. to complete his practice before he starts teaching his regular classes.
His students comprise of many corporates, officials, house-wives and is now designing a programme for kids above the age of 7 years.
He was invited and travelled to the US to teach at workshops in several states. In his recent trip to Atlanta, Minneapolis, Los Angeles and Seattle he taught for around 100 students. He received good reviews about his clear teaching techniques and adjustments.
He has now been invited to conduct workshops and yoga session in other countries. He also aspires to travel around the country to teach Ashtanga yoga to spread the essence of authentic, dedicated and holistic learning’s from the masters of yoga.
